Hand out codes with a gameWhat makes a good coupon code
A code has two jobs: it must be easy to type correctly and hard to guess. A short prefix that says what the code is for, followed by a random part, does both. BF26-K7RM4QXP tells you it belongs to Black Friday 2026, and nobody will stumble onto it by trying words.
Leaving out 0, O, 1, I and L avoids most typing mistakes. Customers read codes off a phone screen, a printed card or an email, and those five characters are the ones people swap.
How long should a code be?
With letters and digits and the lookalikes removed, eight characters give about 850 billion combinations, so guessing a valid code is not realistic. Six characters is still fine for a small run printed on cards; four is only safe if each code is checked and used once.
Codes everyone can share, like WELCOME10, are a different tool. They are easy to remember and also easy to post on coupon sites, so they suit a public offer rather than a prize.
Single-use codes versus one shared code
A list of unique codes lets you hand each customer their own discount and see which ones were used. Import the CSV into your shop's coupon settings and set each code to one use.
Many shop platforms accept a CSV import or a bulk paste, directly or through a plugin, and many email tools can insert one code per recipient from a list. Check that your platform marks each code as used, otherwise a unique code works like a shared one.
Giving codes out with a game
DealCraft makes the codes for you at the moment someone wins. A visitor spins a prize wheel or scratches a card on your site, the server decides the result against the win rate you set, and a winner gets a single-use code that expires. The WooCommerce plugin checks the code in the cart and marks it used when the order is paid.
Because the budget is a hard limit, the game stops handing out codes when your planned spend is reached.
Questions
- Is the coupon code generator free?
- Yes. There is no sign-up and no limit on how often you use it. Codes are made in your browser and never sent to our servers.
- Are the codes really unique?
- Yes. Every list contains no duplicates, and the random part comes from your browser's cryptographic random generator. Codes from separate runs are not checked against each other, so use a different prefix for each campaign.
- How do I add these codes to WooCommerce?
- Download the CSV and import it with a bulk coupon import plugin, or create the coupons from the list. Set each coupon to one use per code so a shared code cannot be reused.
- How many characters should a coupon code have?
- Eight characters after the prefix is a safe default. It is long enough that nobody can guess a valid code and short enough to type from a phone.
- Can I give codes to customers automatically?
- DealCraft does that with a prize wheel or scratch card on your site: each winner gets a fresh single-use code, and you set the chance of winning and the total budget. The free plan includes 200 plays a month.
Put a prize wheel on your own shop
This wheel is for picking and for fun. DealCraft runs the same wheel on your website or at your counter, decides every result on the server against the win rate you set, stops giving prizes at the budget you set, and hands each winner a single-use code. The free plan gives you 200 plays a month and needs no card.
